Call for Papers

GOTECH is an event that brings together decision makers, government representatives, talented professionals from national oil companies and international oil companies, academic institutions, operating companies, contractors, R&D centres, and manufacturers to share ideas to develop and update awareness about oil and gas industry trends, to push the limit further. GOTECH is organised by Dragon Oil and the Technical Conference is organised by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).

Submission Guidelines

  • Obtain the necessary clearance for the proposed paper from your management, your partners, and customers before submission.

  • Submit your paper proposal online. All submissions must be received electronically before the Submission Deadline, 15 October 2022.

  • An agreement to present a paper at this SPE conference carries an obligation to register and participate in the event. Please do not submit an abstract unless at least one author is certain to attend the conference.

  • Authors whose paper proposals are accepted will be expected to provide a manuscript for inclusion in the Conference Proceedings.

  • Authors who do not submit a manuscript and the associated forms by the due date will be withdrawn from the programme and not allowed to present.

  • Paper proposals should be written in English and should provide clear and concise statements on the contents of the paper. It should include brief findings, solutions, impacts, and concluding remarks on the work.

  • Each author may submit a maximum of three paper proposals per conference.

  • All abstracts must be a minimum of 225 words with a 450-word maximum as determined by the programme committee and specified on the online submission portal.

  • Abstracts suggesting commercialism in any form will be rejected.

  • Abstracts should be submitted based on any of the topics listed under the GOTECH technical categories.

  • The proposed paper or ePoster must contribute to petroleum technology or be of immediate interest to the oil and gas industry and should contain significant new knowledge or experience in the oil, gas, and energy industry. Data in the paper proposal must be technically correct.

  • The substance of the proposed paper must not have been published previously in trade journals or in other professional or technical journals.

  • The abstract should stand on its own and not refer to another work unless associated with current work.

  • Authors should indicate their presentation preference: Oral technical presentation or Oral knowledge sharing ePoster presentation. The programme committee reserves the right to decide on the final allocation and presentation method.

  • Early submission is particularly important to ensure that the committee members have ample time to review the paper proposals. Submissions received after the deadline will not be considered. No exceptions will be made.

  • The submission Deadline is 15 October 2022.

  • Author notifications will be sent to each Presenting Author regarding the status of their submission by 20 November 2022.

  • SPE assumes no obligation for expenses incurred by authors for travel, lodging, or other incidental expenses.

Abstract Content

A proper review of your abstract requires that it contains adequate information on which to make a judgment. Written in English and containing 450 words, paper proposals should include the following:

  • Objectives/Scope: Please list the objectives and/or scope of the proposed paper (25-75 words)

  • Methods, Procedures, Process: Briefly explain your overall approach, including your methods, procedures, and process (75-100 words)

  • Results, Observations, Conclusions: Please describe the results, observations, and conclusions of the proposed paper (100-200 words)

  • Novel/Additive Information: Please explain how this paper will present novel (new) or additive information to the existing body of literature that can be of benefit to and/ or add to the state of knowledge in the petroleum industry (25-75 words)

A Word about Commercialism

Enter a title that is concise, yet descriptive of the primary content and application of the proposed paper. SPE has a stated policy against use of commercial trade names, company names, or language that is commercial in tone in the paper title, text or slides. Use of such terms will result in careful scrutiny by the programme committee in evaluating paper proposals and the presence of commercialism in the paper or poster may result in it being withdrawn from the conference programme.

Plagiarism Check

We expect authors to credit all sources used in their writings and not to represent work of others as their own. Authors found to have plagiarised the work of another are subject to having their paper removed from the conference programme and from OnePetro. Future submissions from authors found to have plagiarised will be scrutinised carefully. In the case of students found to be plagiarizing the work of others, SPE may inform the student’s university.

In an effort to further improve SPE’s technical quality standards, all submitted conference papers will be checked for plagiarism.

Copyright

All authors of papers or posters presented at the conference will be required to complete and submit a copyright release form to the Society of Petroleum Engineers or submit the copyright exemption form where applicable.
